Dear Huldah,

When you said you'd be interested to hear more about The Buttonhole, my mind became a patchwork of memories. I think every Sydneysider my age and even younger has not only heard of it but also at some time hired a fancy costume from it. I don't remember my grandmother's presence there - I was very young when she died - but I went there often with my mother when it continued to be run by my aunts, known to the staff as Miss Elsie and Miss Krissie.
