Medicaid managed care is a way of saving Medicaid funds and providing improved health care access to the poor. Under these programs, Medicaid recipients are enrolled in privately operated managed care plans. This concept, however, may encourage doctors and managed care providers to limit services to be able to post profits from their allocations from the state. It may also give rise to violations of patient quality standards and other state requirements. States are urged to come up with more effective health care delivery systems that also bring saving and provide quality care.
