Cyriacus of Ancona and the revival of two forgotten ancient personifications in the Rector's Palace of Dubrovnik.

Sculptures found at the Rector's Palace in Dubrovnik evidence the trend toward antiquarianism and ancient epigraphy during the early Renaissance. A scroll-bearing angel which functioned as a reminder to the elected officials of the essence of Justice also served served as an allegory to the antiquarian ideas of Cyriacus of Ancona. The angel may have also been a visual metaphor for Divine Counsel as evidenced by the inscription found at the statue's foot. Cyriacus objectified his own perceptions of classical antiquity with obvious disregard for latter interpretations.
