Urbanity and postmodern sensuality: the "Post-Magyar" Endre Kukorelly.

Critics, notably George Gomori, assess Endre Kukorelly's postmodernity as an affectation. However, it can be argued that Kukorelly's postmodern language, poetry, and historicity of his works are the epitome of Hungary's alterite or otherness which sets the country apart from the rest of Western Europe. This postmodernity is also what makes him 'Post-Magyar,' one who has transcended the concern over authentic Hungarianess, the debilitating and politically questionable concern over nationalism. Yet, this does not make him apolitical, for his themes are highly politicized.
