Kwame Dawes, a Ghanaian-born Jamaican, sets out to expand on "lost worlds and experiences" - an exercise he ably accomplishes with a flair for detail and an ear for rhythm in Resisting the Anomie, his second published work. In 1994 Dawes won the prestigious Forward Poetry Prize in Britain for his first collection of poetry, Progeny of Air (see WLT 69:4, p. 850).
