The Center for Civic Education has created a 179-page booklet entitled 'National Standards for Civics and Government.' While the proposed standards are for only reference purposes, they have been casually outlined and are misdirected in their abstract conceptual approach. However, the authors of the book are to be commended for setting standards for subjects which are more difficult to outline than standards for other subjects.
