Winslow Homer's last oil painting entitled 'Driftwood" will be exhibited at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, MA. The painting was Homer's last work and it is considered the best of his paintings. It is cerebral, elaborate and atmospheric.
The Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, recently acquired Winslow Homer's last work, Driftwood (Pl. I), a renowned painting that has long been admired. It was described and illustrated in William Howe Downes's 1911 monograph devoted to the artist, and it has been discussed in some four dozen other books, articles, and exhibition catalogues over the years. ...
