RICHARD WILSON is a long way several centuries, in fact from the cardies and elastic-waisted trousers worn by his alter ego, the irascible pensioner Victor Meldrew in One Foot In The Grave.
But today, even beneath the long silver wig and swathed in rustic sack-cloth, there is no mistaking him.
Wilson is cast as the royal physician to the court of the medieval tyrant King Uther Pendragon, played by Anthony Head, in the BBCs spectacular new family drama series Merlin, which hits our screens tomorrow.
