CAMDEN, N.J.--Jul. 24--Mention the name Camden to many nonresidents, and, chances are, the first thing that comes to mind is a crime-and drug-ridden city of poor people, Roy Jones was complaining Tuesday.

It's an image, he said, "that has been defined pretty much by the media, with its inordinate emphasis on crime," and that overshadows the city's many attributes.
