The rationale for ubiquitous and immediate metric feedback on the complexity of Smalltalk methods whenever they are viewed or changed is presented. Included are seven metrics for Smalltalk methods that may quickly and easily be determined from the code and are appropriate for real-time feedback. A description accompanies each metric, including an explanation of how it is determined and why it is related to complexity. Ways to improve codes that are poorly rated for the metric are suggested.
