Chinese-American writer Diana Chang reveals her thoughts about writing, her influences, and her heritage. Chang, the author of six novels, is a minority woman but does not write in an ethnic voice. Instead she uses her imagination to create characters and situations. She feels that as the world becomes more crowded, people will need to learn to live like the Chinese, who can create privacy in close quarters.
