THE South African flag was flying in the streets of London and Paris. The British queen had invited Nelson Mandela to stay at her palace. The French president was to make him the guest of honour at the Bastille Day parade. But behind the rich glow that greeted Africa's most famous leader during his visit to Britain and France this week was a growing chill between Europe and his country over trade.
