Two Sheffield businessmen whose family name is a byword for excellence in engineering, were presented with commemorative plaques by the President of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Andrew Ives.
John and Jonathan Bramah are descendants of Barnsley-born Joseph Bramah. His invention of a ground-breaking press more than 210 years ago led to him being acclaimed the father of modern hydraulics.
The press was built about 1805 and installed in the Tower of London, to be used by map makers working for the Ordnance Survey.
