Brazil : Pecem port needs US$1bn to prepare for refinery, steel plant.

Brazil's Pecem port, in Ceara state, will need a 1.7bn-real (US$1bn) investment in expansion works to handle anticipated demand, state news agency Agencia Estado reported.

Last week, Brazil's oil company Petrobras signed an agreement with the state government to install a premium refinery in the area. In addition, mining giant Vale signed an agreement with South Korean company Dong Sung to build a steel plant in the area.
