As far as brokers are concerned, trading in the diamond industry has traditionally been a relatively secure business. The Central Selling Organization (CSO) diamond broker was always perceived as the unmovable liaison between sightholders and the CSO.
However, recent developments within the industry seem to indicate that the days of security may be numbered for brokers, with CSO sightholders enjoying greater freedom in changing tack and the resulting greater level of competition generating tough negotiations on brokers, fees.
