The auction house Christie's held a sale of objects owned by dancer Rudolf Nureyev. The first auction featured objects from his New York apartment and was a widely attended event that attracted many buyers for the goods. However, the auction held in London of the contents of Nureyev's Paris apartment did not draw as much attention as the first. The Paris apartment showed a more intimate side of Nureyev, since it was a private gallery for his collection of antiques and nude male paintings.
