"Experiments have shown that the material behaviour of plastics, especially the viscous damping, can be described in an excellent way by the introduction of fractional derivatives in stress strain relations," researchers in Hamburg, Germany report.
"From the coincidence between model and experiment the question of a deeper physical explanation arises," wrote T. Pfitzenreiter and colleagues, Helmut Schmidt University.
