More than 90 years ago, a group of Lancashire soldiers travelled to a small market town to prepare for war. Eight months later they left for the battlefields of the Somme and Ypres, most of them never to return again. But behind the bloodshed and gunshots, a remarkable story of friendship and spirit had already unfolded.
These are the some of the mystery faces from Preston who arrived more than 90 years ago as strangers in a small Kent town - but left a lasting mark on the community.
