Jun. 2--Tulsa's unemployment rate has dipped to 3.7 percent -- a level unseen in 15 years -- and could drop even further as local companies complete summer hiring.

The city's job growth is impressive, area economists say, because it has come as the total labor force has swelled. So, while more people continue to enter the job market, hiring is occurring at an even faster pace.

"The state and local economies are much stronger than any of us expected them to be right now," says Craig Knutson, staff economist for Southwestern Bell Telephone Co.
