MILTON Keynes Dons are closing in on a shock deal to make Martin Allen the club's new manager.

The 40-year-old former Brentford manager - dubbed Mad-Dog for his fiery character - has been concluding talks with Dons' chairman Pete Winkelman about taking over the National Hockey Stadium hot-seat.

The Citizen understands that Allen will be unveiled as the club's new manager on his return from holiday in a week and a half.
