The signing of the treaty on fishing in the high seas was signed on Dec 4, 1995. The UN-sponsoring group was the UN Conference on Straddling Fish Stocks and Highly Migratory Fish Stocks. Twenty-five nations signed the agreement. Among other points, it fosters regional cooperation.
