THE tough task of selecting a winner for the Isle of Man Newspapers community Police Officer of the Year Award has started.

The awards panel has been inundated with nominations for the prestigious annual prize, which recognises the dedication of police officers to the community they serve.

The closing date for nominations was Friday, and this year more submissions were received than ever before.

A decision will made in the coming days, and announced ahead of the force's annual awards ceremony on November 10.
