ISLAND HANDED 30 ACRES OF FOREST AS GIFT.

IT is not every day that you're given 30 acres of forest as a gift.
But a chance encounter on the Isle of Man Walking Festival led to a descendent of Manx novelist Hall Caine presenting three quarters of her Greeba Castle estate to the Manx Government.
And forestry officers say the land will provide walkers with a 'gateway to the highlands'.
Gloria Rukeyser, who is the great-granddaughter of the flamboyant author of The Manxman, recalls climbing Greeba Mountain with her three young children on family holidays in the 1970s.
