AN ACCIDENT blackspot identified as the council's number one priority is to undergo a [pounds sterling]50,000 safety scheme.

There have been numerous road traffic accidents at Newburn Bridge, in Seaton Carew, Hartlepool.

Now, an ambitious improvement plan has been designed to cut out such incidents.

In the last five years there have been over a dozen road traffic accidents reported at the site, including one fatality, said Mike Blair, the Hartlepool Borough Council transportation and traffic manager.
