This is indeed a revealing book. It presents a detailed study of the lives and creativity of two neglected women: Lilly (Susan) and Lolly (Elizabeth) Yeats. In the process their brother, the poet W. B. Yeats and their father, John Yeats, are shown in a rather unattractive light. Only their other brother the painter Jack Yeats - who escaped the family circle - is seen as a sympathetic character.
