There are not any spectacular new menswear designers in the US ready to wrest the crown from current superstar designers Donna Karan, Calvin Klein and Ralph Lauren. Retailers believe the stagnant economy, a lack of financial backers, small advertising and marketing budgets and a lack of access to exclusive fabrics have had an adverse effect on the creations of new designers.
