The ultimate goal of the US Office of Building Technologies' Combustion Equipment Technology Program is to reduce the amount of energy consumed by oil-fired furnaces by 0.35 quad per year by 2000. In pursuit of that goal, the program aims to upgrade the oil-combustion technology used in residential and small commercial buildings. The program's specific goals and accomplishments are discussed.
