The radio broadcasting industry can expect closer scrutiny of antitrust issues by the FCC, the FTC and the Justice Dept's Antitrust Division, as an increasing number of radio station acquisitions take place. Since the enactment of the 1996 Telecommunications Act, one issue of particular concern involves the Clayton Act's application to radio station acquisitions under the new rules of competition, which relax restrictions on station ownership.
