Planting marks Scout anniversary.

A TREE was planted in Central Park by Peterborough Scouts yesterday to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the birth of the founder of the Scout movement.

A tree was planted 50 years ago to commemorate the birth of Lord Baden-Powell, in 1857, but did not survive.

It has now been replaced with a Ginkgo Biloba tree, more commonly known as the Maidenhair tree, which will take about 100 years to grow to its full height of between 30 and 40 feet.
