MAIL from the Stonehaven delivery office has been "intentionally delayed", Royal Mail has confirmed.

For several weeks residents have complained of missing post, which included important items such as theatre tickets and cheques.

It has now come to light that mail was deliberately tampered with and Royal Mail has said legal proceedings could result.

However, a spokesman said the problem had been addressed and residents should expect a normal postal service to resume.
