TWINSBURG, Ohio - As Revco D.S. awaits final approval of its acquisition by Rite Aid Corp., executive vice president and chief operating officer Carl Bellini is taking stock of how the drug chain arrived at this juncture as well as appraising the state of the industry.

With consolidation rampant throughout the chain drug business, Bellini says Revco had reached a point where it either had to acquire or be acquired.
