Charles Laughton's last wine is up for auction.

THE last remaining bottle of wine from the collection of Academy Award-winning actor Charles Laughton - a rare Chateau Lafite 1870 - is expected to fetch up to [pounds sterling]4,000 at Sotheby's in London tomorrow.

The bottle, with its bin-soiled, scuffed and slightly torn label, had been stored in the cellars of the Laughton family hotel, the Pavilion in Scarborough, until its demolition.

Laughton worked at the Pavilion as a young man but after returning from service in the First World War he was drawn to the stage.
