This book is a biography in the sense that encomium was a form of life-writing in the Renaissance. Sometimes, to judge from the large tracts of background information, aimed at a general audience, sometimes intended for professionals, the book's point is nevertheless plain: William Tyndale was a great translator, ranking with William Shakespeare in his achievement and contribution to the development of English.
