The spotlight will be on Sunderland's [pounds sterling]20million Aquatic Centre at a televised awards ceremony after it made the final of a national competition.

The Olympic-standard complex is down to the final three in the National Lottery Best Sports Project award - and leisure bosses are calling on Echo readers to help them bring home the gong.

Wearsiders have already been backing the Aquatic Centre in an online vote, and the overall winner will be announced in a special prime-time TV show broadcast live by BBC1 in August.
