Author: Carrier, David
Art historian Ernst Gombrich has been influential on many art historians for his wide overview of art in western civilization. He has also applied psychoanalytic theories to artistic expression, a theme discussed fully in his books 'The Sense of Order: A Study in the Psychology of Decorative Art' and 'Meditations on a Hobby Horse.' He has focused more on European art and considers decorative and commercial art as more innovative venues for expression in modern times.
