THE Reporter's longest serving journalist celebrates 50 years with the company this month.

Margaret Watson started her career as a trainee journalist when she was 17 after attending Dewsbury College.

One of her first jobs was to report on a mill worker who had been with the same firm for 30 years.

Margaret said: "I remember thinking, 'how can anyone stay in one place for so long?'"

But although Margaret had the opportunity to move onto a bigger paper, she chose to stay with the Reporter.
