FORMER Howden MP David Davis has this week said he stands by his actions in resigning his seat and Shadow Cabinet post in order to force a by-election on the issue of the erosion of civil liberties.
None of the other major parties have fielded a candidate but Mr Davis faces competition from 26, mainly one issue, candidates who have stepped up to the challenge from all over the country.
