'Big softie' - 11st 6ft tall English bull mastiff has disability scooter scare.

HARLEY, an 11st English bull mastiff measuring 6ft tall on hind legs, can hold his own with the best of them.

But the soft-hearted pooch was down in the mouth after becoming the victim of a "hit and run" driver - on a mobility scooter.

The two-year-old, family pet yelped when the incident happened, in Huntriss Row, although was not left with lasting injuries.

He had to limp home nursing his poorly paw, helped by owners Sally Smith and her son Joe Kershaw, 16.

Mrs Smith, of Durham Street, has now pleaded for users of mobility scooters ...
