Michel Haddad was born to be an engineer. "All my life, I have wanted to build things. I always used to break my toys and try to rebuild them," explains Haddad, who was born and grew up in Beirut, Lebanon. After high school, Haddad headed for the United States, where he received his bachelor's degree in engineering in 1988 from George Washington University in Washington, D.C. Sensing that an advanced degree would polish his resume, Haddad felt there was only one logical place for him: the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
