STERLING - A discussion by the Board of Selectmen about future uses of water from the Wekepeke Reservoir ended abruptly Wednesday night when the board was informed that Clinton officials had signed a conservation restriction to protect the land around the reservoir.

Owned by neighboring Clinton but located in Sterling, the reservoir has been the center of controversy for months because of a proposed deal between Clinton and Nestle Waters of North America to bottle Wekepeke water. That deal fell through in April when Clinton selectmen pulled the ...
