Tele-Communications Inc (TCI) will likely join the News Corporation Ltd/MCI Communications Corp high-power direct broadcast satellite (DBS) TV venture. The arrangement would benefit both TCI and News Corp. It would accelerate the service's launch and enable TCI's Spectrum to recoup its investment on two DBS satellites originally intended for the medium-power Primestar service. News Corp and MCI want to capture 20% of the US DBS market by 2000.
