A BANCHORY teenager who began gliding when he was only 10 is soaring to success after coming seventh in a UK competition in the sport earlier this month.

Charlie Jordan, 17, took part in the UK Mountain Soaring Championships held at the Deeside Gliding Club, Aboyne, from September 3 to 9.

A total of 15 pilots from all over the country attended to fly around aerial racing tracks ranging from 100km to 400km in length and heights exceeding 16,000ft.
