Africa-focused shipping company Safmarine says it has witnessed a double digit increase in break-bulk liftings from South Africa for the period 2006/2007 and the outlook remains positive considering the number of large-scale projects in the pipeline. These include the construction of an LNG plant in the port of Soyo on the Angolan coast. The company operates a liner-type MPV (Multi-Purpose Vessel) service from South Africa to selected West African destinations.
