MANILA, Feb. 4 (PNA) - The British American Tobacco (BAT) has requested the Department of Finance (DOF) to implement its ruling taxing the Pall Mall cigarette a P6.74 per pack rate rather than P26.06.

BAT Philippines General Manager Jeremy Flint, in a letter address to Finance Secretary Margarito Teves, said the recent position paper of the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) dated December 20, 2007 is based on erroneous interpretation of Sections 6 and 8 of Revenue Regulation 3-2006 or the implementing guidelines of Republic Act 9334 otherwise known as the Excise Tax ...
