Carrick-on-Shannon Rowing Club has been an integral force in the history of the town over the past 175 years.

One of the oldest rowing clubs in the world it has survived in Carrick through famine, civil war, the burning down of its boathouse by the Black and Tans in the 1920s and the drowning of three of its members on a tragic evening in 1933.
