Vulture funds, which are now a major factor in retail Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, have growing difficulties with uncertain filings, increased competition, and smaller distress claims. These funds seek and purchase trade claims against retailers who have filed for Chapter 11 protection on their own account or for others, such as mutual funds.
