Grahamstown's annual arts festival opens in less than a month and this will be Lynette Marais's last year at the helm. For two decades, Marais has been at the epicentre, recruiting, cajoling and nurturing performers from all over South Africa and from around the world.
For Marais, it has been a long journey from St Dominic's Priory in Port Elizabeth. She first set her heart on being a dancer, switched to drama at the University of Cape Town - and then there was the slow shift to theatre management.
