Bill Cosby, comedian and actor, became the first Black to receive an Emmy Award for continued performance as Outstanding Lead in a Dramatic Series for the television series "I Spy" on this day. On the show, Cosby played an undercover agent disguised as the trainer-companion to an international tennis player.
