Newstead novelist's plea for return of 'brave and patriotic' Bothwell.

A BORDERS author has called on senior Scots politicians to secure the return to Scotland of the remains of James Hepburn, 4th Earl of Bothwell, the third husband of Mary, Queen of Scots.
Liz Taylor, who lives at Newstead and writes novels under the nom-de-plume Elisabeth McNeill, believes Bothwell, whose Borders stronghold was at Hermitage Castle in Liddesdale, was not the villain portrayed in the history books.
"I think it is shameful that a brave and patriotic Scot should be treated as a ghoulish tourist attraction," said Mrs Taylor this week.
