The U.S. Department of Justice reports that nearly 1 million people each year become victims of violent crime on the job. "These numbers point to why employers have begun to look for ways to safeguard workers," said John Thompson, a Minneapolis attorney and an expert on workplace violence. "Those that ignore the problem may face litigation by injured employees."
According to Ronet Bachman, who is a statistician for the Bureau of Justice Statistics (BJS), workplace violence accounts for about 15 percent of all acts of violence experienced by people age 12 years or older. ...
